CYCLING ADVOCACY
Making Our Voices Heard
Cyclists join clubs largely for social reasons, particularly
for companionship on the road. Riding with a group is more fun that riding alone.
But there are other reasons to join a cycling club. For one, riding with a group is safer than riding
alone. Your visibility as a group of cyclists is much improved.
In addition
- Cyclists enjoy sharing their knowledge of cycling and bikes, so a club is a good place to learn.
- Clubs schedule rides, and usually know the best places to ride (and the best deli stops!)
- Clubs help you find riders at your own riding level and, even more importantly, riders who will offer you the challenge to improve your riding.
- Clubs schedule event rides that also encourage you to improve your riding.
- Clubs often schedule social events, both cycling and non-cycling-related
- Clubs serve as community or political action organizations, representing cyclists' interests to government.
