THERE'S A HOLE IN MY ROAD!
How To Report a Pothole
As winter turns to spring, most of us start to think about riding again (those of us who haven't ridden through the winter, that is). Our thoughts often turn to dismay when we see what the combination of water and fluctuating temperatures has done to the road surfaces we ride on. Pothole City.
We can ride around the craters in the road or we can try to do something about them. Do you know what to do about getting your friendly government agency to repair that strategic (to you, anyway) route?
I'm not talking about the small stuff. The stuff where we just yell out "rough road!" and get on with the business at hand. No, I'm talking about the bone-jarring, SUV-swallowing moon craters that show up in the spring, the depths of which rival the Mariana Trench. When you run into one of these in New Jersey, call the County Pothole Hotline:
- Bergen - 201-646-2811
- Essex - 973-239-3366 (ext 222)
- Morris - 732-285-6763
- Union - 908-789-3660

As you get out on the road this year, and find some new pothole, closed road, or anything else that would cause a safety concern to your fellow cyclists, contact us and let us know about it. We'll post it on this site and see what we can do about getting it fixed - or at least make someone in a position of responsibility aware of it.
