Green Routes To Work PDF Print E-mail

On July 9, Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) released a "Green Routes to Work" bill.  This is to be an enhancement to the Bicycle Commuting Act which will double the amount of benefit (to $40 per month) and allow individuals to combine modes of transportation.  The current bill forces the commuter to choose either biking or transit, but not combine both.  The bill will also require a cash-out option for car parking fringe benefits.

The bill number is not yet available but the Alliance for Biking and Walking is following this closely, and as soon as more information becomes available from them, we will report it. For a preliminary look at the bill as proposed by Representative Blumenauer, check out this one-page summary prepared by him.

Update

The House bill is HR 3271 and was introduced on July 21, 2009.  You can read the full bill here.
